I often get asked by people about unique venues for parties and weddings in Sri Lanka. While there are so many gorgeous luxury venues and boutique hotels that have popped up all over the country in the recent past, one of my absolute favourite boutique hotels in Colombo to date is Tintagel.
Best known as the former private residence of Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike, the world's first female Prime Minister, and the host venue of Prince Charles's stay during his visit to Sri Lanka in 2013, Tintagel is located on one of the most affluent neighborhoods of Colombo, known as Rosmead Place.
Having tried out high tea at almost every mainstream hotel in Colombo, I was keen to find something a little different when a client approached me last year to organize a tea party in honour of her soon to be sister in law. We were offered the exclusive use of the private dinning room by Tintagel for free, due to the number of guests, and to our surprise, found the high tea menu very reasonably priced.
On the day of the event, the venue was set up to perfection, the service was exceptional and the food was scrumptious. And if all that wasn't enough, they had decorated the private dinning room with the biggest arrangement of fresh white roses!
